"Do you care?"

She said as she looked over at him, vomit still oozing its way out of her mouth. He was already wiping it away when he answered, not missing a beat with either action.

"Of course not, baby, I love you. Why would I care?"

For just a second the girl forgot why they were even in that tiny little bathroom and why the world was spinning and all she knew was that he meant it and she loved him for it. That and so many other things. Loved him in a way that broke her heart because it filled her so full and threatened to leave her so empty. Without thinking his face was in her hands and she kissed him straight on the mouth, both ignoring and hardly noticing the tears falling down her face. He pulled away after a few seconds, but not far.

"Baby, not with puke mouth."

She almost wanted to laugh but she flushed and stuttered instead. His face was still so close and she knew she was a mess but she couldn't bring herself to let go of him, so she muttered a response.

"I'm sorry. I just love you so much."

It was only the second time she'd ever said it to him, and she was close enough that all she saw was his mouth as he grinned. She watched his lips move as he responded, trying to draw the moment out as long as she could.

"I love you, too."

That time he was the one that kissed her.
and i knew and it hurt and i have never been so afraid of something
